Perinatal Mood Disorders

Peer Support Group

Perinatal Mood Disorders (PMD) can affect women during pregnancy and in the first year after giving birth. Whether you have been diagnosed with PMD or are just having a hard time coping with pregnancy or new motherhood, help is available. Peer support can be an important part of recovery. Come to the group to:

  • talk with people who understand
  • share your experiences
  • learn from others in a safe, supportive place
  • share self-care tips
  • find out about additional community supports and services

The group runs Tuesday afternoons in Whitby and is facilitated by public health nurses. The group is free and child care is available.

*Note - Peer support groups do not take the place of formal counselling. Speak to your health care provider to determine if further medical help is needed.
