Health Before Pregnancy Makes a Difference

Have a Healthy Weight

Have a Healthy WeightA healthy weight can be achieved and maintained by healthy eating and active living. A healthy weight will decrease your risk of developing health problems and will increase your chances of becoming pregnant.

Speak to your doctor about what weight is best for you, before you get pregnant.

Prenatal weight gain recommendations are based on a woman's pre-pregnancy weight and her height (or body mass index).  Body Mass Index or BMI, is a ratio of weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared.

Appropriate weight gain during pregnancy is associated with best pregnancy outcomes.

Track your day’s food and activity choices and compare them to Health Canada’s guidelines
