  • Beach Monitoring Program
Each week throughout the summer, Durham Region Health Department conducts tests of water at designated public beaches throughout Durham Region. Beaches are "posted" as unsafe for swimming when sample results exceed provincial bacteriological guidelines for recreational water quality.
  • Small Drinking Water Systems
Owners and operators of Small Drinking Water Systems (SDWS) in the Region of Durham need to be aware of changes coming to how their drinking water will be regulated by the Ontario government. If your business makes drinking water available to the public and you do not get your drinking water from a municipal drinking water system, you may be an owner or operator of a "Small Drinking Water System."
  • Well Water Testing
Durham Region Health Department Environmental Health Division has developed a resource package to assist you in maintaining the quality of your well water. This resource package will help well owners understand basic principles of ground water, well construction, well maintenance strategies and methods of diagnosing and resolving well water issues.
