Adult Mosquito Surveillance

mosquitoThe Durham Region Health Department conducts an adult mosquito trapping program annually between mid-June and late September. Trapped mosquitoes are sent to an accredited laboratory where they are counted, sorted by species and tested for the presence of West Nile Virus and, in certain instances, Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). A minimum of 10 trap sites are designated throughout Durham Region each year.
