Outdoor water restrictions in Newtonville lifted

WHITBY, ON June 30, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that the mandatory outdoor water restrictions, for municipal water supply users in Newtonville, have now been lifted. Odd-even day lawn watering and other outdoor water use can resume immediately.

“Thanks to Newtonville residents for their co-operation during the outdoor water restrictions as we completed recoating work of the Newtonville standpipe,” says John Presta, Director of Environmental Services. “It’s been a dry couple of months, without much rain, and we appreciate residents’ co-operation as we ensure our water storage infrastructure remains in the best condition.”

The water use restrictions were necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection.
