Update: Construction on Henry Street in Whitby

WHITBY, ON October 28, 2014

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to update residents and businesses about construction on Henry Street (Regional Road 45) in the Town of Whitby.

WHERE:

The intersection of Henry Street (Regional Road 45) and Burns Street West in Whitby will be closed from Oct. 28 to Nov. 11. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule. Once completed, Burns Street West and Henry Street between Burns Street West and the GO Transit station will re-open.

Following this, Phase 2 work will begin, with a closure of Henry Street from the north side of Burns Street to the north side of Harriet Street. This work will continue until the end of the year, as long as weather permits.

Detour routes will be posted.

WHY:

The road closure is required to reconstruct the intersection, including watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, curb and gutter, traffic lights, intersection widening and paving.

NOTE:

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Access to residential and commercial driveways will be maintained whenever possible, Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians and construction workers.
