How to dispose of bulky yard waste following storm in Durham

WHITBY, ON August 04, 2015

Many residents are dealing with a large volume of yard waste following the storm this past weekend, such as downed trees and branches. The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents that there is no limit on curbside waste collections as long as set-out requirements are followed.

NOTE:

For branches less than 10 centimetres in diameter, residents should tie brush/branches in bundles up to one metre in length and 76 centimetres in width. There is no limit to the amount of bundles. Branches greater than 10 centimetres in diameter cannot be collected curbside.

Residents are not to clear trees from roads, sidewalks and power lines to ensure safety. For trees or branches fallen on Regional roads, please contact the Works Department at 1-800-372-1102. For trees or branches fallen on municipal property, please contact your local municipality.
