Durham Region reminds Oshawa and Whitby residents of holiday changes to Blue Box collection schedule

WHITBY, ON February 10, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to scheduled curbside Blue Box collection in recognition of Family Day on Monday, Feb. 16.

WHEN:

Changes to the Blue Box collection schedule in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby are in effect between Monday, Feb. 16 and Saturday, Feb. 21.

The “day shift” system will be in place during this time, meaning that collection take place one day later. Residents with collection scheduled for Monday, Feb. 16 will have their Blue Box collection moved to the following day, Tuesday, Feb. 17. This shift will continue throughout the week until collection scheduled for Friday, Feb. 20 is moved to Saturday, Feb. 21.

WHERE:

Blue Box collection changes only affect residents of the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby.

WHY:

Changes to Blue Box collection dates are taking place in observance of the Family Day holiday. 

NOTE:

Garbage and Green Bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of those individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. Oshawa and Whitby residents are asked to check their waste calendars, or contact their local municipality, regarding collection of those items.
