Construction on Thornton Road South in Oshawa

WHITBY, ON January 16, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that a watermain installation on Thornton Road South, between Wentworth Street and Champlain Avenue in the City of Oshawa, will cause ongoing lane restrictions. Construction work will also impact the GO Transit parking lot and entrances.
 

WHEN:

Construction will begin the week of Jan. 19 and is expected to be complete by the end of August. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

WHERE:

Thornton Road South, between Wentworth Street and Champlain Avenue in the City of Oshawa, including entrances to the GO Transit parking lot.

WHY:

To install a large-diameter watermain. Work also includes restoration of the GO Transit parking lot, roadways and entrances.

NOTE:

The Region realizes that the work will be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for pedestrian safety and for the safety of the construction workers.
