Whites Road bridge to be closed overnight for construction (updated)

WHITBY, ON March 18, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses of nightly road closures of the Whites Road bridge. This closure was originally scheduled to be completed by April 16, but has been extended until April 24.

WHEN:

The Whites Road bridge will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. from April 7 to 24. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

WHERE:

The Whites Road bridge, which spans from the Highway 401 eastbound off-ramp south to Bayly Street, in the City of Pickering. Detour routes will be posted.

WHY:

The closure will accommodate under-structure strengthening and bearing replacements as part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project.

NOTE:

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of the construction workers.
