Residents in Oshawa and Whitby asked to conserve water

WHITBY, ON April 15, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham is asking residents in Oshawa and Whitby (including Brooklin) to conserve water as the Works Department works to repair a broken watermain on Thornton Road North. Residents should refrain from non-essential outdoor water use (such as lawn watering and washing cars).

WHEN:

Repair work will take place April 18 to 26. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

WHERE:

Effective immediately, all residents who are connected to the municipal water supply system in Oshawa and Whitby (including Brooklin) are asked to conserve their water use. Residents will be advised when normal water use may resume.

WHY:

To ensure adequate water supply for all essential needs as the Works Department repairs a broken watermain on Thornton Road North. This trunk watermain is a large feed for the municipal water supply system.
