Distribution of July social assistance cheques

WHITBY, ON June 28, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising Ontario Works (OW) clients to contact their local OW office on July 4, if they do not receive their July social assistance cheque by the end of day on June 30, due to a labour disruption involving Canada Post.

WHEN:

Social assistance cheques for the month of July were mailed, as per the regular schedule, on June 27, and should be received by end of day on June 30.

WHERE:

Durham Region

WHY:

In the event of a labour disruption involving Canada Post workers, the delivery of social assistance cheques for the month of July may be impacted.

Should a disruption to mail delivery service occur, and OW clients do not receive their July social assistance cheque by the end of day on June 30, they are asked to call the office that normally handles their file on July 4.

NOTE:

Clients are still required to report income changes, and changes to their circumstances, to their caseworker.

Should clients require additional assistance, or have any questions, they are asked to contact the OW office that normally handles their file.
