Changes to the waste collection schedule for Easter holidays

WHITBY, ON March 21, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents of changes to scheduled curbside waste collection due to the upcoming Easter holidays.
 

WHEN:

Residents of Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge who have Green Bin, Blue Box or garbage collection scheduled for Friday, March 25 (Good Friday) will have their waste collected on Saturday, March 26.

Oshawa and Whitby residents with Blue Box collection scheduled for Friday, March 25 (Good Friday) will have their recyclables collected on Saturday, March 26. In addition, Blue Box collection scheduled for Monday, March 28 (Easter Monday) will be moved to Tuesday, March 29. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, April 1 collections being moved to Saturday, April 2 in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby only. Garbage and Green Bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars, or contact their local municipality, regarding collection of these items during the Easter weekend. 

Also in observance of the Easter Weekend, the Region of Durham’s waste management facilities, Waste Management Call Centre and the household hazardous waste depot in Pickering will be closed on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26.

WHY:

These changes are taking place in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday.
