2016 Transportation Tomorrow Survey to roll out in Durham Region

WHITBY, ON September 06, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham, along with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, Metrolinx, Toronto Transit Commission, and other participating municipalities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, have partnered to undertake the 2016 Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS). The survey will collect information from households in Durham Region about the trips made by each household member during a typical weekday, as well as select demographic information. The data collected helps to support planning for transportation infrastructure and services across central Ontario.

WHEN:

Invitation letters from the Minister of Transportation will be sent out to a randomly selected sample of households from Sept. 7 until mid-December, inviting residents to complete the survey online or by phone. Some of these households will also be contacted by phone to complete the survey.

WHERE:

Durham Region and other participating municipalities.

WHY:

The TTS began in 1986 and has been conducted every five years in order to collect travel information to support transportation and infrastructure planning. The data collected is an important resource for local and regional governments, as well as the province, for various transportation studies used to help make transportation planning and investment decisions.
