Update #1: Intersection of Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive

WHITBY, ON August 03, 2017

As the Durham Region Works Department continues to repair the roadway affected by the watermain break at Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive, portions (the west and south legs) of the intersection have reopened to traffic. Water service has been restored to all area businesses, and access is available to all businesses.

The watermain has been repaired, and work to repair the related damage to the road base and asphalt is ongoing.

Highway 401 ramps at Thickson Road have re-opened to traffic. The intersection of Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive is partially open to traffic. Some lane restrictions and closures are still in place:

  • Thickson Road remains closed north of the Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive intersection; therefore, left turns onto Thickson Road from Consumers Drive are not permitted.
  • Champlain Avenue remains closed east of the Thickson Road intersection.

To repair a broken watermain and related damage to the road base and asphalt.
