2004 Farm Tour

On September 22, 2004, DAAC hosted its second annual farm tour in the Township of Uxbridge. The theme of the tour was “Surviving in Tough Times” The event was intended to provide participants with insights into the challenges faced by the agricultural industry and its importance to the Regional economy. About 70 participants attended, representing senior levels of government, the Region, area municipalities, school boards, DAAC, DEAC and the media.

The tour featured speakers and information/discussion sessions at each of the host farms. The farms represented a broad spectrum of agricultural operations active in the Region, including:

  • Springcrest Farms – hogs, beef and various crops;

  • Zephyr Organics – organically grown vegetables;

  • Price Lee Acres – standardbred horses, grain/hay and Christmas trees;

  • Twinkleberry Farm Market – ‘pick-your-own’ vegetables and sheep; and

  • Uxbridge Nurseries – landscape gardening supplies, trees and shrubs.
