Media invited to attend Durham Region Film Festival's Opening Gala Reception

WHITBY, ON September 21, 2015

On Sept. 25, members of the media are invited to attend the official Opening Gala Reception of the first-annual Durham Region Film Festival—a celebration connecting audiences with the riches of cinema. The three-day festival—taking place Sept. 25 to 27—aims to bring the magic of film on-screen and behind-the-scenes to local residents and visitors with an exciting line-up of films, a series of informative filmmaking workshops and interactive activities.
 
WHAT: Durham Region Film Festival Opening Gala Reception 
 
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 25, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Opening remarks will begin at 5:30 p.m.
 
WHERE: The Regent Theatre, 50 King St. E., Oshawa 
 
WHO: Roger Anderson, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham; Granville Anderson, MPP (Durham); Donna Zuchlinski, Film Commissioner, Ontario Media Development Corporation; and Kathy Weiss, Director, Economic Development and Tourism for The Regional Municipality of Durham are scheduled to attend the reception. The event will be hosted by actor Neil Crone, and will also be attended by representatives from the film industry.
 
WHY: The inaugural festival will feature short- and feature-film screenings, family activities, movie-making demonstrations, production workshops, and question and answer sessions with film talent.
