Durham Tourism encourages the community to celebrate Culture Days

WHITBY, ON September 17, 2014

Durham Tourism is inviting residents and visitors to participate in Culture Days ΜΆ an interactive, free celebration of local arts and culture, taking place Sept. 26 to 28.

This annual, nation-wide festival is a collaborative movement designed to raise awareness, accessibility participation and engagement of Canadians in arts and culture within their communities. Culture will be celebrated by a number of communities across Canada, including Durham Region. Durham residents and visitors are encouraged to explore their creativity during the celebration, and experience creative expression through the region’s talented artists, musicians, creators, historians and more.

“We are thrilled to have many talented, local artists participating in Culture Days, which provides an excellent venue for creators to promote themselves and their businesses,” said Kathy Weiss, Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “Durham Region is home to such rich culture and heritage. Culture Days is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate all that Durham has to offer.”

More than 50 events throughout all eight area municipalities have been registered on the Culture Days Ontario website. For an updated listing of these events, visit http://on.culturedays.ca.

“Durham is proud to host a variety of Culture Days events across the region again this year,” said Kerri King, Tourism Manager. “Durham Region continues to be one of the leading communities in Canada for the number of Culture Days events taking place.”

Even though the celebration is just a week away, Durham Tourism encourages all interested artists, event producers and arts organizations in Durham Region to register their Culture Days event online, both at www.durhamtourism.ca and www.culturedays.ca.
