Explore Durham Region with the 2015 Discovery Guide

WHITBY, ON February 24, 2015

Durham Tourism’s new 2015 Discovery Guide is designed to provide residents and visitors with a first-hand look at the many unique tourism destinations and attractions throughout Durham Region.

Now available to order, the free Discovery Guide features a calendar of events and a touring map; value-saving coupons for local attractions and restaurants; as well as information on Durham hotels and accommodations, bed and breakfast establishments, local eats, farm fresh flavours, family fun, entertainment, shopping, outdoor adventures, sports and recreation, art, music, heritage and so much more.

“The 2015 Discovery Guide is a fantastic resource for those visiting Durham Region, as well as residents looking for new adventures right at home,” said Kathy Weiss, Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “With a charming mix of both urban and rural delights, Durham is an attractive destination for tourists of any age with a variety of interests. This guide showcases our many attractions and creative culture, and we hope it will encourage residents and visitors to discover more about our beautiful region.”

New this year to the annually produced Discovery Guide, are feature stories about some of Durham’s proudest tourism assets like arts and culture, cycling and our abundance of fresh, local food. Tourists can also enjoy a brand new, tear-out touring map that highlights local attractions and destinations. Durham Region is a four-season destination that truly has something for everyone to enjoy.

“The Discovery Guide shows the scope of Durham Region’s strong tourism assets, and how valuable the tourism sector is to our local economy,” said Kerri King, Tourism Manager. “Once again, the guide has been produced and printed locally on environmentally friendly paper, featuring local photography to highlight the region’s vibrant economy.”
