Move-in plan information for new Fairview Lodge

WHITBY, ON June 01, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to provide an update on the move-in plan for the new Fairview Lodge. Residents are expected to begin moving into the home on June 23.

Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care officials were at the home to conduct the required pre-occupancy inspection on May 27 and 28. Staff is actively working to resolve outstanding items, and the ministry will have to return for a follow-up inspection. Following resolution, the Region is confident that the ministry will issue approval for residents to occupy the home, as well as a new licence. The main item to be resolved involves the nurse call system—an important component of resident safety and well-being.

“We are really excited to reach this final stage,” said Marcey Wilson, Administrator of Fairview Lodge. “Staff and residents are looking forward to being reunited in the Region’s newest, state-of-the-art home.

All residents are able to remain at their present location until the new Fairview Lodge is ready for occupancy, and will be given priority to relocate to the new Fairview Lodge once it is opened.

The Region of Durham thanks residents and families for their continued co-operation.

Staff is available during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday) at 905-668-7711 ext. 2903, or by email at FairviewFamilyInquiry@durham.ca, to answer questions. New information is also posted, as it becomes available, on the Region’s website at www.durham.ca.
