WHITBY, ON May 26, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be recognizing National Access Awareness Week (NAAW) from May 29 to June 4, with an official proclamation by Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer Roger Anderson on behalf of Regional Council.

“The Region of Durham is proud to be a participant in celebrating accessible and inclusive communities across Canada, as we recognize National Access Awareness Week,” said Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer Roger Anderson. “Accessibility initiatives continue to be a priority for Regional Council, and will remain at the forefront of our current and future strategic planning.”

An information booth will be set up at Regional Headquarters on May 30, where visitors can find more information about agencies in Durham Region that support people with disabilities. The booth will also include interactive activities for residents to experience first-hand how disabilities can affect the way people live day-to-day.
