Uxbridge electronic waste event continues; HHW event postponed.

WHITBY, ON June 17, 2014

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents that the upcoming electronic waste (e-waste) special collection event in Uxbridge will proceed. However, the household hazardous waste (HHW) collection scheduled to occur at the same location has been postponed and will be rescheduled in the near future.

WHEN:

Saturday, June 21 from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.

WHERE:

Uxbridge Seniors Centre, 75 Marietta St., Uxbridge

WHY:

E-waste: To provide Durham residents with a convenient free drop-off event to properly recycle their electronics.  Acceptable items include, but are not limited to: cellular phones, audio and video players, VCRs and DVD players, stereos and receivers, computer peripherals, printing devices, televisions, personal digital assistants and pagers, cameras and radios, telephones, desktop computers, monitors, camcorders and portable computers. Residents are reminded to erase personal data from hard drives and SIM cards before bringing their computers, cellphones and other electronics for recycling.

NOTE:

Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to support the local food bank. For more information on this and other waste management events, visit www.durham.ca/wasteevents.
