Durham Region reminds Oshawa and Whitby residents of holiday changes to Blue Box collection schedule

WHITBY, ON February 12, 2014 – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to scheduled curbside Blue Box collection in recognition of Family Day on Monday, Feb. 17.

WHEN:

Changes to the Blue Box collection schedule will begin on Monday, Feb. 17 in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby. These changes for Blue Box collection dates are in effect between Monday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 22.

WHERE:

Blue Box collection changes will only affect residents of the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby.

WHY:

These changes to Blue Box collection dates are taking place in observance of the Family Day holiday on Monday, Feb. 17. Oshawa and Whitby residents with collection scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17 will temporarily have their Blue Box collection moved to Tuesday, Feb. 18. These changes will continue throughout the week until collection scheduled for Friday, Feb. 21 is moved to Saturday, Feb. 22.

Garbage and Green Bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of those individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars, or contact their local municipality, regarding collection of those items.

NOTE:
