How to report potholes on Regional roads

WHITBY, ON March 27, 2014 – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department takes pride in the maintenance of the Regional road system, and would like to remind residents how to report potholes to ensure they are repaired as soon as possible.

WHEN:

During the spring season, moisture from rain and melting snow can seep into the pavement. Temperature fluctuations can then cause the moisture to freeze and expand–breaking up the pavement and eventually causing a pothole.

WHERE:

The Region's Works Department is responsible for repairing potholes on Regional roads. Regional roads are the arterial roadways in Durham Region, and can be identified by their Regional road numbers (RR#) on street signs. A full list of Regional roads can be found at www.durham.ca/regionalroads. If a road does not have an RR#, it is maintained by the local municipality (this includes most residential and side streets).

WHY:

Regional roads are monitored for potholes, debris, and other safety and maintenance concerns. Residents with concerns about potholes on Regional roads should contact their local Durham Region Works Department Depot. Depot contact information is available at www.durham.ca/depots. Depot staff will repair the pothole as soon as possible.
