Family fun at the Durham Region Waste Fair, Aug. 29

WHITBY, ON August 12, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department invites the public to learn more about waste management at an upcoming Waste Fair.

WHEN:

Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE:

Pickering Recreation Complex, 1867 Valley Farm Rd., Pickering

WHY:

The Waste Fair is a free, family-friendly event that focuses on educating residents about responsible waste management.

Highlights of the Waste Fair will include:
• Educational displays about the Region’s waste management programs, including the new Durham York Energy Centre
• Educational displays by the Region’s waste management partners
• Eco-friendly crafts
• A face painter, balloon artist and Durham’s Blue Bin and Green Bin mascots
• An interactive bird show by the Canadian Raptor Conservatory
• A puppet show about the science of composting

Green bins, blue boxes and backyard composters will be available for purchase (cash only), and broken bins can be exchanged for free, while supplies last.
