One-year road closure for Rossland Road at Brock Road in Pickering

WHITBY, ON July 07, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that construction work around the intersection of Brock Road (Regional Road 1) and Rossland Road in Pickering will require lane restrictions and road closures.

WHEN:

Work began the week of June 29, and will continue until December 2017.

Work will be completed in stages. The first stage will close Rossland Road, from Southcott Road to Bunting Court, for approximately one month from July 13 until mid-August—as well as cause lane restrictions on Brock Road. The second stage will close Rossland Road, from Southcott Road to Brock Road, from mid-August until July 2016. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

WHERE:

Brock Road, from south of Rossland Road north to the Canadian Pacific Railway Underpass; and Rossland Road, from Bunting Court to Clearside Court, in the City of Pickering.

WHY:

Work includes full road reconstruction; intersection improvements; watermain and sewer work; a new multi-use bike path; and the construction of a stormwater management pond.

NOTE:

The Region realizes that the work will be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers.
