Celebrate National Public Works Week in Durham Region

WHITBY, ON May 05, 2015

Durham Region residents are invited to participate in celebrations for National Public Works Week (NPWW), May 17 to 23, by attending public events on Saturday, May 23. Join staff of The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department at two event locations, and have fun discovering how public works impacts your life.

WHEN:

Saturday, May 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE:

Corbett Creek Water Pollution Control Plant, 2400 Forbes St., Whitby
Activities include: tours (not recommended for children under the age of 10), educational displays, children’s activities, crafts, face painters and a truck and equipment display.

Oshawa Whitby Depot, 825 Conlin Rd., Whitby
Activities include: educational displays including information on the new Durham York Energy Centre, children’s activities, crafts, face painters and a truck and equipment display.

WHY:

National Public Works Week open house events provide residents with a first-hand look at the Region’s facilities and fleet, while also learning about the many services provided by the Works Department.

NOTE:

Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to a local food bank, to either of the above event locations.

In addition, from May 22 to 23, a public display will be set up at the Pickering Town Centre to provide residents with more information about services offered by the Region of Durham’s Works Department.
