Watermain break in Whitby

WHITBY, ON April 20, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to inform residents that a watermain break in Whitby has made it necessary for the municipal water supply to be shut down for residents in the vicinity of Dundas Street West (Highway 2) from Jeffery Street to Lake Ridge Road in Whitby. There will also be eastbound lane restrictions on Dundas Street West in this area.

WHEN:

Effective immediately. Work to repair the watermain is estimated to be completed by 6 p.m.

WHERE:

The following streets are affected: Fothergill Court, Bluebell Crescent, Halls Road, Almond Avenue, Churchill Avenue, Cresser Avenue, Queens Road, and Dundas Street West between White Oaks Court and Lake Ridge Road.

WHY:

The municipal water supply in this area needs to be shut down in order for the watermain break to be repaired.

NOTE:

When water is reinstated, it is important for customers to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes to clean out any sediment that may have accumulated in your water service. This will avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.
