New accessible pedestrian signals to be installed at various locations throughout Durham Region

WHITBY, ON August 30, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that accessible pedestrian signals are being installed at five intersections over the next couple of months.

WHEN:

Installation will coincide with other intersection improvements, such as curb and sidewalk reconstruction, taking place between now and the end of November. Lane and sidewalk restrictions will be in effect when work is underway.

WHERE:

Accessible pedestrian signals will be installed at the following intersections:

WHY:

Accessible pedestrian signal functions advise pedestrians who are blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind when they have the right-of-way to cross a roadway.
