Deadline for input on Regional Council Composition Review extended

WHITBY, ON January 20, 2016

The deadline to provide feedback on Regional Council Composition Review has been extended to Wednesday, Jan. 27.

WHEN:

Members of the public can provide feedback online by visiting www.durham.ca/rccrc or by emailing rccrc@durham.ca by Wednesday, Jan. 27.

WHY:

During the past 20 years, the size and distribution of Durham Region's population has changed dramatically. As a result, Durham Regional Council established a 15-member ad-hoc committee to review council composition. Representation on this committee includes the Regional Chair, one Regional Councillor from each area municipality (eight in total), and individuals from local chambers of commerce, boards of trade and post-secondary institutions. This committee meets monthly and will report final recommendations by March 2016.

NOTE:

Residents are also reminded about the final public information session:

Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016

7 to 9 p.m.

Scugog Community Recreation Centre (East Hall)

1655 Reach St., Port Perry

Agendas, minutes and background materials for the Regional Council Composition Review Committee are available online at www.durham.ca.
