Construction at Bayly Street and Harwood Avenue in Ajax

WHITBY, ON July 13, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction will cause lane restrictions on Bayly Street (Regional Road 22)—as well as close Harwood Avenue at the intersection of Bayly Street—until the end of September.

WHEN:

Work begins the week of July 11 and is expected to be complete by Sept. 30. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

WHERE:

There will be lane restrictions on Bayly Street around the intersection of Harwood Avenue for the duration of the project. Beginning Friday, July 15, Harwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic south of Bayly Street for approximately seven weeks, then closed north of Bayly Street for approximately five weeks.

Pedestrian access along one side of Bayly Street will be maintained for the duration of the project. At times, north/south pedestrian crossing on Bayly Street at Harwood Avenue will be closed and pedestrians will be detoured to Kitney Drive and Burcher Road. Detour signs will be posted.

WHY:

Road rehabilitation work includes watermain replacement, curb and sidewalk replacement, asphalt removal, grading and paving.

NOTE:

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers.
