Celebrate Local Food Week in Durham Region

WHITBY, ON May 25, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be participating alongside Ontario’s farm and food communities for the province’s third annual Local Food Week, taking place from June 6 to 12. In celebration of Local Food Week, a Regional Farmers’ Market will be held on June 7 at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters. The market will feature a wide variety of fresh produce, tasty local treats, handmade bath products and live music. 

WHEN:

Local Food Week runs from June 6 to June 12, 2016.

A Regional Farmers’ Market will be held on June 7 at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

WHERE:

The Regional Farmers’ Market will take place outside, in the north parking lot at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, 605 Rossland Rd. East, Whitby.

WHY:

Local Food Week celebrates Ontario’s 37,000 farm families, while uniting farmers, retailers, restaurants and residents to honour those who produce and use locally grown meat and produce.

The Regional Farmers’ Market aims to support local food producers and farmers while promoting healthy, sustainable agriculture and raise awareness about the availability and advantages of buying local.
