WHITBY, ON September 29, 2016

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be participating alongside Ontario’s farm and food communities for the province’s annual Agriculture Week, taking place from Oct. 3 to 9. In celebration of Ontario Agriculture Week, the Region of Durham will be hosting a farmers market, which will be held on Oct. 6 at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters. The market will feature a wide variety of fresh produce, tasty local treats, handmade bath products and will showcase the new Durham Farm Connections “All About…Farming” mobile agricultural exhibit.

Ontario Agriculture Week runs from Oct. 3 to 9, 2016.

The Region’s Farmers Market will be held on Oct. 6 at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The market will take place outside, in the north parking lot at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, 605 Rossland Rd. East, Whitby.

Ontario Agriculture Week recognizes the province’s thriving agri-food industry, which employs more than 780,000 individuals and contributes significantly to Ontario’s economy.

The Region’s Farmers Market aims to support local food producers and farmers while promoting healthy, sustainable agriculture and raise awareness about the availability and advantages of buying local.
