Water conservation needed in Pickering during water system maintenance

WHITBY, ON November 02, 2017

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise Pickering residents that upcoming maintenance work on the water supply system may cause water pressure fluctuations. During this work, residents are also asked to practice water conservation, to ensure adequate water supply for all essential needs.

WHEN:

Work will begin November 27 and is expected to be complete by December 1. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

WHERE:

The area north of Highway 401, and west of Fairport Road, as well as the areas north of Finch Avenue, between Fairport Road and Liverpool Road, within the City of Pickering.

WHY:

Routine maintenance on the water supply system requires a temporary shutdown of the trunk watermain on Rosebank Road.

NOTE:

As a precautionary measure, customers who experience low-water pressure are asked to flush out internal plumbing after the water pressure returns to normal—to do this, turn on a cold water tap only, and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes.

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
