The Region of Durham invites the community to celebrate GIS Day

WHITBY, ON November 03, 2017

The Region of Durham invites the community to celebrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day featuring displays from several departments, an interactive map gallery, and presentations from the Durham GIS community.

WHEN:

Wednesday, November 15 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

WHERE:

The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby

WHY:

The Region of Durham celebrates GIS Day as a local hub for GIS information. Working in collaboration with the eight area municipalities, conservation authorities, local school boards, and local utilities, the Region shares information about how GIS is used. We strive to continuously improve our application of GIS technology to provide better information to the public, via Open Data and interactive maps, and to help staff perform their duties.

The Region of Durham participates in GIS Day, an international event, to help create public awareness, learn about new applications and technology, demonstrate how GIS ties in with our everyday lives, and create an avenue for collaboration amongst the local GIS community.
