Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests (LEAF) offers a subsidized Backyard Tree Planting Program to help you get the right tree in the right place. For approximately $150 to $220 per tree you will get a site consultation in your yard with an arborist, a five to eight foot tall tree (or two to four feet tall for evergreen trees) and full planting service. Native shrubs and garden kits are also available. The program is available to homeowners and multi-units in Ajax.

For more information on how the program works or to book a consultation, visit www.yourleaf.org/ajax-full-service

Program sponsors include: The Region of Durham, Town of Ajax, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and Ontario Power Generation.

Durham Five Million Trees Program

Community partners Raw Materials Company (RMC) and Forests Ontario are working together to plant trees in Durham Region! As the Durham Region Five Million Trees corporate sponsor, RMC will donate $1.10 for every kilogram of single-use batteries recycled at participating locations to Forests Ontario to plant trees throughout the region. Approximately three kilograms of batteries collected at drop-off sites will plant one tree! You can drop off your batteries at one of the many retails sites in Durham, simply visit the RMC webpage and type in your postal code for a list of locations, or make an online donation to Forests Ontario .

Contact us with any questions about the program, and for more information on planting trees on your own property.

About Raw Materials Company (RMC)

RMC Logo

RMC works with retailers and municipalities to collect and recycle single-use batteries from the public and provides recycling services to the industrial and commercial sectors. All recycled materials are reused in industry, displacing the need to mine for the equivalent amount of resources from ore, a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions.
