Breastfeeding in Public Places

Breastfeeding in public.
It's no big deal.

Durham Region Health Department is launching a new campaign to promote "Breastfeeding... Anytime. Anywhere." Our goal is to support breastfeeding in public spaces. Life-sized cut-outs of local moms breastfeeding their babies will be displayed in several areas around the community.

A mother's right to breastfeed her baby anytime, anywhere is protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code. Women who are breastfeeding should not be disturbed, asked to "cover up" or to move to another location.

Durham Region Health Department offers several services to support families in meeting their breastfeeding goals. To learn more about breastfeeding, call Durham Health Connection Line at 905-666-6241 or 1-800-841-2729.
