Sun-glasses shield our eyes
From UV and bright glare
We use some lip balm now
Our mouth de-serves some care.

We li-mit sun con-tact
From 11-A-M to four
Sunburns and tanning too
Are gone for-ever-more

We work or play in shade
To block the mid-day sun
By doing all these things
Skin cancer should not come.

And now it’s time to go
Some water we must drink
We’re glad you’ve sung this song
We hope it made you think.

The time frame to avoid the sun is identified in the Sun Safe Savvy song as 10:00am to 4:00pm. The song was recorded in California which is closer to the equator and experiences the harmful rays of the sun for a longer period of time.  In Canada, the time frame to avoid the sun is 11:00am to 4:00pm. Have your students sing 11:00am to 4:00pm.

Created by Andrew Manthe, Chief, Skin Cancer Prevention Program, California Department of Public Health.
