What is Positive Mental Health?

Positive mental health is a state of well-being that allows us to "feel, think, and act in ways that enhance our ability to enjoy life and deal with the challenges we face" (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2016)

What is Resiliency?

Resiliency is the ability to handle life’s ups and downs in positive ways and to bounce back from hard times. Resiliency is a skill that can be learned.

Promoting mental health encourages the development of resiliency and promoting resiliency leads to better mental health.

Schools are a place where students can form positive connections with caring adults, peers and the community. These relationships help students to develop a sense of belonging, feel valued and supported, and develop skills to handle life’s ups and downs in positive ways.
