Long-Term Care and Services for Seniors Division

Director's Message

Welcome to the Region's Long Term Care & Services for Seniors Division. We are pleased you have chosen to visit us and are excited for you to see all that we have to offer our elder population here in Durham. Before you begin your tour I would like to share a few important facts about our homes.

The Region owns and operates four long-term care homes, all of which are accredited by Accreditation Canada. Fairview Lodge is a 198 bed home and is located in Whitby; Lakeview Manor has 149 beds (including 2 short stay beds) and is located in Beaverton; and Hillsdale Terraces (200 beds) and Hillsdale Estates (300 beds) are both situated in Oshawa.

In Durham, we are proud to offer a wide range of services and support to our growing, seniors population. In addition to the long-term care homes, the Region also operates three Adult Day programs at Hillsdale Estates, Lakeview Manor and Port Perry. Other community services such as Meals-on-Wheels are also provided at some homes.

It is our hope that these services and support systems will help elder adults live vibrant and full lives in their senior years. With a focus on individualized care, an interdisciplinary approach is taken, which we believe will enhance our clients lives further.

Striving for service excellence by adapting to new and innovative forms of care, our team provides the highest quality of service to its clients in a caring and ethical environment. Through a collective, caring community of service providers we hope Durham Region’s seniors have the strong platform needed for living a high quality of life.

We thank you for taking the time to visit us and we welcome your comments and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Laura MacDermaid
