About Social Services

The Social Services Department provides services to more than 25,000 residents of Durham Region each month. At some point in their lives, many of these residents may require one or more of the services provided by the Social Services Department's six divisions: Business Affairs & Financial Management, Children's Services, Family Services, Housing Services, Income & Employment Support, and Long-Term Care & Services for Seniors, which are committed to the delivery of professional and high-quality services.

Social Services Department receives prestigious Order of Excellence award

In October 2015, The Regional Municipality of Durham, Social Services Department was presented with the Canada Awards for Excellence, Order of Excellence by Excellence Canada.

This award recognizes organizations who have previously received the Canada Awards for Excellence Gold Trophy, and who have successfully maintained a focus on excellence over the long-term.
