What can I recycle and how do I get a Blue Box?

The Region of Durham collects the following materials weekly on your regular collection day in the Blue Box Program:
In one bin place “paper” materials loose:

Empty, rinse and place the following “containers” loose in a second bin:

Styrofoam or paper coffee cups, nursery plant pots and trays are not accepted in the Region's curbside Blue Box Program.

Once your recyclables are collected they are delivered to the Region’s Material Recovery Facility, where they are sorted, baled, and then sold to industrial buyers.

Additional or replacement Blue Boxes are available during regular business hours from the Durham Region Waste Management Centre.

New residents to the Region can fill out the New Resident form to receive their Blue Box and Green Bin starter kits.
