Family Services provides a number of educational seminars and workshops.

  • Accepting Anxiety and Facing Fears (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop designed to help people understand anxiety and its effects, and develop practical skills and strategies to help them manage anxiety, face their fears and ride out panic.
  • Bully Proofing Your Child (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop for parents with children of any age. Workshop includes strategies to respond to suspected bullying, the difference between telling and tattling, ways to move out of the "bullied kid" role, breaking the cycle of violence and more...
  • Child-Focused Parenting Plans (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop for parents with children of any age. Planning for the care of our children post-separation can be a complex and confusing task. This workshop provides participants with the opportunity to learn, discuss and explore issues which relate to the creation of successful parenting plans.
  • Grief
    A two-hour evening workshop designed to help people better understand loss and the grieving process, factors affecting how people grieve, going through the healing process during a time of loss and what you need to know to support someone who is grieving.
  • Growing Great Kids! Growing as Parents!
    A nine-week workshop series geared to parents of children under eight years of age that is designed to encourage social well-being in children, while allowing parents to grow and nurture themselves.
  • Helping Children Cope with Separation and Divorce (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop for parents with children of any age, designed to help parents understand how children grieve and react to separation and divorce. The workshop also provides strategies to help parents support their child(ren)’s successful adjustment.
  • High Conflict Parenting During Separation and Divorce (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop for parents with children of any age. This workshop is designed to understand families in conflict during separation & divorce, increase parents' awareness of the impact of parental conflict on children and help parents to manage conflict and learn how to protect their children from negative consequences of parental conflict.
  • Parenting Teens and Preteens
    An eight-week group series designed to equip parents with tools to improve communication with their child(ren) and build healthy relationships.
  • Principles of Successful Couple Relationships
    An eight-week group series exploring healthy couple relationships; the causes of breakdowns, and how to prevent and repair them; dealing with conflict in a relationship; and the most important ingredients in successful partnerships.
  • Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop for parents with children of any age designed to educate parents on what sexual abuse is, the warning signs of sexual abuse, and develop strategies to respond if abuse is suspected. Parents will also receive information about what to do to keep children safe.
  • The Gift of ADHD (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop. Workshop includes tools to help your child build the self-esteem they need to let their gifts shine, easy skill-building activities you and your child can do together, overview of information to explain how you can help your child control over inattentive, hyperactive behaviour, and enhance the five gifts of ADHD.
  • The Sandwich Generation (PDF)
    A two-hour evening workshop with discussions around those sandwiched between aging parents, who need care/help, and their own children.
