Intake and Referral

  • A referral to the Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program is for men and women, once the court has dealt with all outstanding assault charges. The program is mandatory for those attending. The referral source will be either the Crown Attorney's Office and/or probation and parole services (operated through the Ministry of Community and Correctional Services). The referral process is only initiated once the court has dealt with all outstanding assault charges.

  • If referred by probation and parole services, the client completes his/her application with the probation officer. At this point, the probation officer will assign the client a PAR intake date. Alternatively, if he/she has been referred by the Crown Attorney's Office, he/she will complete the application at the Family Services office, located on the Lower Level at 605 Rossland Rd. E. in Whitby (The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters). Once the application is received the PAR intake date is assigned by PAR staff.

  • All participants must complete the intake process in order to begin the group process.

  • Male intakes are facilitated every Monday at 2 p.m. only at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, located at 605 Rossland Rd. E. in Whitby. At the intake assessment, which is 1.5 hours in duration, clients are provided with an overview of the program, including the expectations for group members. Clients then sign the participation agreement and are assigned a fee based on their income.

  • Female intakes are facilitated every second Wednesday at 2 p.m. only at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, located at 605 Rossland Rd. E. in Whitby. At the intake assessment, which is approximately one hour in duration, clients are provided with an overview of the program, including the expectations for group members. Clients then sign the participation agreement and are assigned a fee based on their income.
