Violence Against Women (VAW) Shelters

Violence Against Women shelters provide temporary shelter for single women and women with children who require support to leave an abusive relationship. These residences are funded by the province.

Income and Employment Services staff assist individuals to complete applications and assess eligibility for financial assistance. Women who are ready to leave the shelter may also be eligible for last month's rent assistance through the Housing Stability Program.

Other services for individuals and families fleeing abuse can be found by clicking here. (PDF)
