The Works Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the Region's water supply and sanitary sewer infrastructure.

This infrastructure provides clean water to our customers and provides for the efficient treatment of wastewater. Clean water and the efficient treatment of sanitary sewage is vital to our community, to maintain health and economic prosperity.
Durham Region is one of the fastest growing municipalities in the Great Lakes area. The total population is expected to be almost 750,000 people by the year 2021.
