Region of Durham Multi-Residential Battery Recycling Program

Multiresidential Battery Bin

The Region of Durham has partnered with Raw Material Company Inc. (RMC) to provide collection containers inside the lobby or recycling area of some multi-residential properties buildings to enable residents to collect and safely dispose of their used batteries. Special pails or bins are located in approximately 50 buildings in the Region. Properties are being added to the program every year.

Participating buildings must have a full time building superintendent who can oversee the collection containers and ensure that they remain clear of other non-acceptable material. The pails and bins are located in indoor areas that are visible and accessible for all residents. Building managers or superintendents arrange for shipment of the batteries to RMC for processing when the pail is full. All contact information can be found on the drum or pail supplied to your building.
