Durham Region’s Waste Management Facilities increasing user fees effective May 1

Whitby, Ontario – Effective May 1, 2024, the minimum user fee for general residential and commercial garbage waste will increase from $5 per load to $7 per load for loads up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds). For every eight kilograms greater than 40 kilograms, the fee will increase from $1 to $1.40. The flat rate for loads weighing 1,000 kilograms (metric tonne) or more will increase from $125 to $175 per 1,000 kilograms. Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has developed a new interactive dashboard to monitor local opioid-related statistics and issues.
