Emergency child care coming soon for school-age children of eligible workers

Whitby, Ontario – Licensed child care programs for infants, toddlers, preschool and centre-based kindergarten programs will remain open during the province-wide shutdown. However, care of school-age children whose parents are not eligible workers is prohibited from January 4 to 8, 2021, as per the Ontario government’s Safer at Home Restrictions. Full-day care programs for school-age children will only be available for eligible workers, at no cost to families.

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham, continues to ensure that services that have been identified as essential by the Province of Ontario, including waste management and household hazardous waste collection, will be completed safely and efficiently.

Whitby, Ontario – When the holidays are over, Durham Region will provide its annual curbside collection of natural Christmas trees. Natural Christmas trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste.
When and where:
- Ajax and Pickering: Christmas tree collection will be on regular collection days during the weeks of January 4 and 11 only.
- Brock, Clarington, Scugog and Uxbridge: Christmas tree collection will take place on Monday, January 4 and Monday, January 11 only.
