Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of Aug. 3 indicate that four beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) and Red Light Cameras (RLC) will soon be in effect on Durham roads. As part of Durham Vision Zero, both initiatives are reminders to slow down and drive safe, and are expected to be implemented by the end of August through to early September—just in time for back to school safety on our roadways.
Although fines are not yet being issued, ASE and RLCs have already been installed on some roadways and have started to collect data.

As a part of Durham Vision Zero, Durham Region is making bicycle crossings easier and safer for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians by installing crossrides along multi-use path routes at intersections throughout the region. A crossride is a dedicated space at an intersection where cyclists can legally ride their bicycle through the intersection without dismounting. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is hosting a virtual Prompt Access to Single Session (PASS) Case Management event where adults (18 years of age or older) with a developmental disability and/or their caregivers can speak directly with an experienced and knowledgeable case manager.
